We like to keep it real at THE TEEN AGE.
We know we're not perfect when it comes to sustainability. But we want to do our very best in making decisions that are kind to our planet. And we know how important it is for us to be transparent in our actions.
Read on to see the steps we're taking both today & in the future to minimise our footprint on this planet.
All our manufacturing happens within 15km of our solar powered HQ. That's one way we can keep our carbon footprint small.
Producing small quantities helps us prevent unnecessary waste from going into landfill. We also try to use all our scrap fabrics for other little projects from scrunchies to face masks.
Apart from sourcing the softest & most beautiful fabrics, we choose our fabrics from sustainably run mills who minimise electricity & water consumption during production; fabrics that have been made without harsh chemicals or toxic dyes; and / or deadstock.
We've made the switch to using coconut shell buttons, a more sustainable alternative, in some of our designs. Of course, we will continue to finish using any custom buttons we have made but are continually looking to new technology for future options.
We use compostable satchels made from a combo of cornstarch & composting co-polymer. Basically, that means stuff that will break down but only after they have been safely delivered to your door. The labels do need to be cut out of the packaging for the moment, but we are working on this!
Our tissue paper & stickers are recyclable & have been printed using soy-based inks on FSC-certified paper. It's acid, sulphur & lignin-free & also 100% compostable, recyclable, & made from recycled materials. So much goodness right there!
